Now, not only is the device potentially no longer usable and expensive to replace, but worst of all, your customer needed to use that device today! Ugh.
The good news is you can avoid such a travesty moving forward … by simply converting IFU/DFU’s to onserts. Yes, it’s that easy!
But wait, what’s an onsert?
An onsert, also known as an Extended Content Label (ECL), is a booklet that is affixed to a pressure sensitive label on a package. These booklets provide extra space for additional information that is needed, and avoids having to make several separate labels.
Other benefits of using Onserts:
- You can identify where on the package the IFU/DFU will be located, which will ensure quick, easy and consistent access.
- Assemble Medical Device packages in advance and localize as needed! By applying the onsert outside of the sterile barrier, you can include the latest IFU content and avoid unnecessary rework and product re-sterilization and perhaps more production efficiencies for the manufacture.
- Many options are available in designs, adhesives, papers, and laminates.
- Will your product be used internationally? Instead of printing multiple IFU/DFU’s with associated sku’s or language configurations, one onsert can be utilized.
